ROME AND THE PREMIER PADEL

Miguel Yanguas

“The atmosphere in Rome is extraordinary. Playing on one of the most symbolic tennis stages, the Foro Italico, fills us with pride. We hope to go as far as possible in this tournament. The potential of the new Premier Padel circuit is amazing: we all feel as though we’re in a world that values ??us, and this is priceless. It pushes everyone to do their best".

Jorge Nieto

“Rome is one of my favorite cities, so playing well here would be even more special. On our day off, we will certainly go and tour the city, trying to prioritise sights we have not yet been to. As for the tournament, we hope to prove we belong among the best pairs in the world, because we are young and the goal is to rank as high as possible".

BEST QUALITY AND WEAKNESS IN YOUR PARTNER

Miguel Yanguas

“Coki (Nieto's nickname, ed) is really solid. He knows how to go for the ball in the crucial points.  Sometimes I get the feeling he doesn't believe enough in himself and in his potential. He could play way more aggressively. But these are minor details; in general, he’s the perfect partner for me”.

Jorge Nieto

“Miguel is a player who knows how to be aggressive and he is really ambitious. One of his weaknesses is that he gets very angry with himself, which can be hard to handle at times  But I am the chill one, and I help him stay calm”.

THE PADEL PHENOMENON IN SPAIN AND ITALY

Miguel Yanguas

“In the past, Madrid and Barcelona were the places-to-be for Padel players, because the best in Andalusia flocked there to have a common base. Nowadays it’s becoming such an international sport that many other cities provide the same opportunity to train well, and to aim to become a top pro".

Jorge Nieto

“I believe Padel is a phenomenon that is destined to become more and more popular. It will not stop here - it will go much further. The fact that the number of members keeps on growing anywhere in the world is proof enough. Whoever begins playing is like under a spell and inevitably gets other people involved. Countries such as the United States, Italy or some places in Asia will lead the movement”.

ADVICE FOR NOVICES

Jorge Nieto

“I would like to say that it is important for kids to practise while smiling, having fun, experiencing the sport with passion. The first few years of training are crucial because they mark you for a long time. The key is to have fun competing in matches as well. If you pull this off, you will no doubt be better off in your career”.

Miguel Yanguas

“It doesn't make sense to do something you don't like, so the first thing is to have a passion for the sport and to have fun. Then, of course, when you turn professional or think of doing so, you have to take a lot of time away from other interests, friends and family. But on the other hand, Padel can give you so much, as it does us".
