All the competitions organised by the Italian Tennis Federation, including team championships, and all international FIP events assign points to players for the national ranking. Italy’s no. 1 players this year are Lorenzo Di Giovanni from Chieti and Giulia Sussarello from Como. There are 56,572 players in the 2022 FIT rankings overall, of which 46,945 men and 9,627 women.

The rankings are divided into categories: the first category includes the best 111 men and best 51 women, followed by second, third and fourth categories. With the exception of the first category (single group) the other three are each divided into four sub-categories: first, second, third and fourth. A novice player starts off as 4.Nc (no rank), moving up tournament after tournament.

In addition to pro competitions, there is also an amateur circuit in Italy on the FITPRA platform, which is ideal for all those who are still familiarising themselves with tournaments, perhaps after picking up a Padel racket for the first time. This circuit combines competition, fun and social interaction, but is nevertheless able to thrill players and provide them with opportunities that are rare elsewhere, such as winning the Italian Cup team scudetto, becoming champions of Italy or taking part in pro circuit events.
