THE PADEL CAGE
The difference of the glass and wire netting walls has a determining role in the game as different rules apply when the ball rebounds from either of these surfaces. The ball can never make contact with the netting unless having once touched the ground, otherwise the point is lost by the player hitting the ball. Furthermore, a player cannot use the netting on his/her own side of the court to launch the ball into the opponent's side.
Different rules apply for the glass wall. The ball cannot be hit directly onto the glass on one side of the court unless it has touched the ground on the same side, but a player can use the walls of his/her side of the court to send the ball to the other side of the net. In this case, the player can also use both walls which means that the ball can either hit the lateral wall then the back wall (or vice versa) before crossing to the opponent’s side of the court. We can say that the unpredictable rebound from the wire netting favours an attack strategy while the rebound from the back wall favours a more defensive strategy.
